SD School-Age Care Credential Program

 
 

The SD School-Age Care Credential Program provides certificate and credential training opportunities to advance your career supporting school-age children in afterschool and summer programs. The South Dakota Out-of-School Time (OST) Credential training program is a state-administered professional credential, modeled after the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.

 

Certificate:

The certificate involves online training and support through the SD Early Childhood Enrichment (ECE) system and is a pathway to the SD SAC Credential. It is 38 clock hours of formal education.


Credential:

The credential involves online training and support through the SD Early Childhood Enrichment system.

  • 120 clock hours of formal education

  • 480 hours of experience working with school-age children

  • A professional portfolio and documentation of demonstrated competencies

  • A formal observation by a regional SD SAC Credential advisor

  • A formal oral interview conducted by a regional ECE System representative
