Exploring the use of developmental checklists as the basis for conducting structured observations of individual children. Exploring how the use of Anecdotal Records can help staff extend and expand on observations. Exploring how Developmental Checklists can be used as the foundation for working with children to create individual Portfolios.
 

Module 2:              Sharing Information with Parents and Other Professionals Exploring the use of individual child Portfolios as a tool for sharing important information and documentation with parents and other professionals who teach or work with the child in other environments.  Identifying typical components of child Portfolios and exploring strategies for collecting Portfolio items, developing documentation for Portfolios and tips for sharing Portfolios with parents and other professionals.

Module 3:              Commitment to Quality in OST

Exploring standards for quality in OST programs.  Investigating tools for evaluating program quality.  Exploring the process of NAA Accreditation.  Surveying the research on quality in the OST field.

Module 4:              Making Plans and Developing Policies

Exploring program development through visioning, creating mission statements, developing goals and objectives, and creating strategic plans.  Exploring the connection between established program policies and procedures and daily program operation and a continuous cycle of evaluation.

Module 5:              Creating and Managing Budgets in OST

Exploring the budgeting process and understanding the use of the budget as a planning tool.  Examining sample budgets and tools for creating effective budgets.

Module 6:              The Six “P’s” of Marketing OST Programs

Exploring business strategies for effective marketing of OST programs.  Exploring the six major components of systematic marketing; 1) PRODUCT; 2) PRICING; 3) PLACE; 4) PROMOTION; 5) PUBLICITY; 6) PUBLIC RELATIONS.
