The Division of Child Care Services, with its partner agencies, the regional Early Childhood Enrichment offices (ECE’s), will be offering training which can lead to a state issued OST Certificate.
How do I earn an OST Certificate?
- Complete the 15 hours of entry level OST Core Modules offered through the regional ECE offices.
- Complete the 60 hours of entry level OST Certificate Series Modules offered through the regional ECE offices.
Successful completion of the entry level OST Modules and the OST Certificate Series with projects will earn the participant a South Dakota OST Certificate.
Why should I consider earning an OST Certificate?
Caring for school-age children is different from infants, toddlers and preschooler. They are becoming more independent and offer new challenges to staff. The OST Certificate offers individuals an opportunity to receive training specific to this age group which will allow them to gain a deeper understanding of the significant development which occurs during the school-age years.
Is there additional training after the OST Certificate?
YES! The South Dakota OST Credential is a state recognized credential which is offered through the local ECE offices. The 75 hours of Certificate training will articulate into the SD OST Credential.
