Early Childhood Connections recognizes that directors of quality early childhood programs face unique challenges in leadership, program development and management and supervisory skills.  In response to these challenges, ECC has developed a comprehensive approach in developing classes and technical assistance that directly support a director's role as a leader.

Eleven area directors of early childhood programs attended the first networking opportunity on March 2, 2005 at the invitation of Early Childhood Connections.  Participating directors agreed to continue to meet bi-monthly on Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.  A survey was distributed to all area directors with the goal of determining specific training, technical assistance and networking needs of the community.  The results enabled ECC to develop and offer specialized classes (Hiring Right, and Supervisors as Leaders), along with a Community Networking session at the 5th Annual Spearfish Expo.  The ECC now newsletter features a "Directors Corner", and a "Directors Connection" is under development for this website.
